Biography

Laura Podolsky is the Policy Director for the National Center for Sustainable Transportation, established by the Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Davis (ITS-Davis), with four other consortium universities: CSU Long Beach, UC Riverside, University of Southern California, Georgia Tech, and the University of Vermont. As Policy Director, she provides support to local, state, and federal policymakers in making bold advances in cutting greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector by connecting them to cutting-edge research on how to design, build, and operate a more efficient transportation systems; move towards zero-emission vehicles and fuels; reduce transportation demand through better land use planning; and transform the institutions shaping the transportation system. Prior to joining UC Davis, she served as the Healthy Communities Program Director at the Local Government Commission where she focused on connecting, empowering, and supporting local policymakers as well as their staff in advancing policies, programs and projects that create healthier places for people to live, work, and play. Laura has a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from UC Davis.
