Real-time rideshare matching is defined as a one-time match obtained for a one-way trip either the same day or the evening before. This report documents the proposed evaluation plan for the Real-Time Rideshare Matching Field Operational Test being conducted in the vicinity of Sacramento, California. A new rideshare matching system that has recently been developed by Sacramento Rideshare, the regional ridesharing agency for the 11-county area of Caltrans' District 3, is to be used to provide real-time rideshare matches.

The real-time rideshare matching service is being implemented by Sacramento Rideshare as well as seven Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) in the surrounding area. The instruments that will be used to assess user satisfaction, travel impacts, and performance of the real-time rideshare matching system are follow-up surveys for riders and drivers, pre-implementation user and non-user surveys, and post-implementation user and non-user surveys. These surveys are included as appendices to this report.
