Pre-trip planning systems are proposed as a part of establishing information systems for an Intelligent Vehicle Highway System (IVHS) program. The basic requirement for trip planning is an information system which has a list of all available facilities (Yellow Pages). Usually the requirement for Yellow Pages is greater in non-work trips. Present computerized systems are having a partial database of facilities and interfaces to these systems are complicated and restricted. Additionally, the information provided by these systems does not satisfy user needs.

In this work an attempt has been made to introduce Electronic pages or Electronic yellow pages which work similarly to Yellow Pages. The overall system is divided into user interface, network building, image integration, navigational model and a query system development. The network database is developed using TIGER/Line Census files. Later, this network is fed with addresses, links and turning restrictions. All the required addresses are linked with the image database. In addition, this system provides a shortest path between origin and destination covering user specified intermediate points.
