PECAS is a recently-designed generalized approach for simulating spatial economic systems. It operates by clearing spatial submarkets for various goods, services and factors in a short run equilibrium, with floorspace supply handled separately based on development event probabilities. It is currently being applied in the development of land use transport interaction models for practical use in several contexts in North America. This paper describes PECAS and discusses its application.
