The purpose of this book is to introduce advanced modeling approaches in the context of transportation planning and regional development. The book is a collection of research papers on current analytical directions in transportation and spatial dynamics (Part I), and on the application of these techniques (Parts II and III). The papers were presented at a special session of the 37th European Congress of the Regional Science Association in 1997.
