This document provides an overview of incentive strategies in 15 leading plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) markets. The document looks at incentives from 2021 for both battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). We do not comment on the effectiveness of each incentive, rather we provide an overview of the different ways in which PEV incentives are designed. The hope is that policymakers can gain insights into different strategies for incentivizing the purchase of PEVs. The document focuses on purchase incentives, it does not take a detailed look into non-financial, indirect, or re-occurring incentives. The main focus is on consumer incentives, not fleet or business incentives.
