Abstract:Fuel cell powered electric vehicles have the potential of replacing internal combustion powered vehicles if the problems of low power density and high cost can be overcome. Future cost and performance estimates for proton exchange membrane fuel cell power systems are compared with internal combustion power systems. Specific areas of research for fuel cell power systems are suggested.
